What is YouTube Content ID?

YouTube Content ID allows any user to upload songs by any artist, but the artist always receives the revenue generated from their music.

If someone uses your song in a video, YouTube Content ID detects it and ensures you receive your royalties.

YouTube Content ID creates a digital fingerprint for each song, identifying all matching content on the platform. This system safeguards the audio of your songs, and any revenue from their use goes directly to you, through limbo music.

YouTube Content ID doesn't monetize your YouTube channel.

If a video matches your work, a Content ID claim is generated, and you, as the copyright owner, will decide what happens next.

  • According to YouTube's policy, submitting your release to YouTube Content ID will also result in its submission to YouTube Music.

  • If you receive a claim on behalf of "[Merlin] Limbo Music", it's because YouTube Content ID has correctly identified your music. Please don't contest this claim, to ensure that limbo music can collect any revenue generated by your music on your behalf. Since YouTube doesn't distinguish who uploaded the content, all users, including you, receive this claim.
