How does pre-approval and rejection of releases work?

Written by Julieta Erdozain

Releases go through different stages depending on where they are in the process. Understanding these stages helps you know when you can edit, approve, or reject a release, and when that decision is no longer in your hands.

Release stages

  • In progress: the release hasn't been submitted to quality control (QC) yet. It's fully editable.

  • Pre approval: the release has a pending distribution request. In this stage, you can approve or reject it from the "Requests" section.

  • In review: the release has already been submitted and is being evaluated by the limbo team. From this point on, the decision to approve or reject is no longer yours to make.

How to approve or reject a request for a release in "Pre Approval" status

  1. Go to the Requests section.

  2. Filter by Status > Pre approved.

  3. Releases with a pending distribution request will show an Actions button or column, from which you can approve or reject.

If a release doesn't have a pending distribution request, it will appear in the list, but you won't be able to approve or reject it: it won't have the "Actions" tag because there's nothing to approve or reject.

What happens once a release is "In Review"?

Once a release moves to "In review," you can no longer reject or edit it from your account. The evaluation is now in limbo's hands.

If you approved a release by mistake, or need to correct something after it's been submitted to QC, the only way to recover it is to email us asking us to reject it on your behalf. Once we do, the release goes back to "In progress," and from there you can edit and resubmit it.
